This blend enhances the natural silky softness of Himalayan nettle fibre, giving the yarn a gentle lustre and a subtle, luminous sheen. Often described as a “vegetable silk”, nettle brings a smooth, refined texture, while Merino d’Arles wool adds softness, elasticity, and structure for beautiful stitch definition.

The four strands of fibre twisted together give the yarn a soft, cotton-like feel, while preserving the natural elasticity of wool. Himalayan nettle and wool pair naturally through their shared thermal regulation properties, helping to create garments that feel comfortable across seasons.

We have developed our inaugural range of hand knitting and crochet yarns in partnership with an Italian spinner and weaver specialising in natural fibres sustainably grown.

Our first fully traceable collection combines French Merino D’Arles wool and Himalayan nettle fibres, creating yarns that are both visually distinctive and soft to the touch.

 

Himalayan Nettle Fibre

Himalayan Wild Fiber™ is a social enterprise supporting farmers in Nepal’s Dolakha District, where wild nettle is harvested once a year.

This seasonal harvest provides an additional source of income for farming communities, helping to support livelihoods while preserving traditional knowledge and local ecosystems.

Their mission ensures fair pricing for raw materials and equitable pay across the supply chain.

 

French Merino D’Arles Wool

We selected premium wool from the French Merino D’Arles Selection© collective, where herders continue to practice transhumance — the seasonal movement of flocks between lowlands and mountain pastures.

In spring, sheep graze at high altitude in the French Alps, returning to lower regions in autumn. This traditional system supports both animal welfare and landscape biodiversity.
